Breaking News! As of April 21, 2015, Google will be drawing a line in the sand when it comes to mobile-friendly sites. Up until now, Google has been encouraging that websites focus on mobile responsiveness, but as of April 21, 2015 when they release their latest search engine algorithm, they will be insisting upon it!
Once Google’s new algorithm takes effect, any sites that aren’t mobile and tablet friendly will not be given priority in search engine rankings. This means that if you or your business currently have a site that isn’t mobile-friendly, come April 21, 2015 your search rankings could fall for searches done from a mobile device. With smart phones and tablets making up 60% of all internet browsing, it’s more important than ever to make sure your site is mobile-friendly!
Furthermore, Google has made it clear that there are no “sort of mobile-friendly” sites. Your site either is, or isn’t mobile-friendly. Google’s new algorithm will be made up of over 200 factors to make their decision on a case by case basis.
